Mike has over 20 years experience developing and producing TV drama, working for leading production companies and in commissioning for the BBC. He has established talent and commissioner relationships throughout the UK and in Europe.
Before founding Freedom Mike was scripted Head of Development at Oscar winning Amy and Senna indie On The Corner and for Alex Rider and Safe House producers Eleventh Hour.
As a Development Executive at BBC Drama Mike was part of the team who developed green-lit BBC shows including Murder, Peaky Blinders, Case Histories, Wallander and Shetland. He also helped oversee Waterloo Road and went on to produce exactly 50 hours of River City.
At STV Mike script edited on Taggart, and Scottish BAFTA winning episodes of Rebus and High Times. He also developed green-lit show Fast Freddie for ITV.
Mike got his start in drama at World Productions thanks to legendary British producer Tony Garnett.

Nancy Napper

Development Executive
Nancy joined the team full time in October 2022, having previously freelanced for Freedom on a couple of headline projects.
In her previous role at Unigram she worked on the development team for the Apple Original feature Tetris (dir. John Baird), as Associate Producer on a BBC feature documentary about Noel Coward, and on a co-development with Mammoth Screen.
Before that Nancy worked in development at Monumental Pictures; in the Film, TV and Theatre department at United Agents; and as a researcher and reader for multiple London indies including Sister Pictures, Drama Republic and Eleven Film.Nancy is committed to new writing and is a mentor for Channel 4 drama's 4Screenwriting Competition.

Development Executive
Tessa joined Freedom as a Screen NETS development trainee in 2019 and was later promoted to script editor and now Development Exec.
Before this, Tessa worked at BAFTA organising juries and coordinating the Scotland awards and events like Guru Live.
She also worked at the Edinburgh International Film Festival as an industry coordinator.
Tessa is committed to new writing, particularly from Nations & Regions. She has contributed to writer's schemes and sessions for BBC Writer's Room Scotland, Edinburgh Napier and Glasgow Film Festival.
Tessa studied American Literature and Film Studies at the University of Sussex, where she spent a year in Louisiana (LSU). She obtained her MSc in Filmmaking and Media Arts from the University of Glasgow. Mark assisted Freedom in creating a business plan and then attracting investment in 2022. He was appointed our CFO in the summer of that year.
As well as his work with us Mark works as a consultant and with other leading indies including Minnow Films,
Mark was Head of Programme Finance at Channel 4 for eight years, overseeing a budget of £700 million.
Before that he worked at Warner Brothers Distribution, Castle Rock International, Renowned Films and many other independent production companies.

Business Affairs
Sally and her team at Rights Angels have been looking after all business affairs for Freedom over the last two years.
Sally qualified as a barrister in her own words 'a long time ago' and has spent much of the last thirty years heading up legal and business affairs departments within the independent production sector, including at Wall To Wall and Darlow Smithson Productions.
Now working exclusively in scripted business affairs, Sally specialises in literary source material options, script development, production financing and production legals.
Other recent/current clients include Tiger Aspect, Douglas Road, BBC Studios, Urban Myth Films, Two Cities Television, and Starling Pictures.

With specific responsibility for submissions and books Annie spends much of her time reading and reporting, as well as making sure we get back to agents and writers on time.
