Mike has over 20 years experience developing and producing TV drama, working for leading production companies and in commissioning for the BBC. He has established talent and commissioner relationships throughout the UK and in Europe.
Before founding Freedom Mike was scripted Head of Development at Oscar winning Amy and Senna indie On The Corner and for Alex Rider and Safe House producers Eleventh Hour.
As a Development Executive at BBC Drama Mike was part of the team who developed green-lit BBC shows including Murder, Peaky Blinders, Case Histories, Wallander and Shetland. He also helped oversee Waterloo Road and went on to produce exactly 50 hours of River City.
At STV Mike script edited on Taggart, and Scottish BAFTA winning episodes of Rebus and High Times. He also developed green-lit show Fast Freddie for ITV.
Mike got his start in drama at World Productions thanks to legendary British producer Tony Garnett.

Nancy Napper

Development Producer
Nancy joined the team full time in October 2022, having previously freelanced for Freedom on a couple of headline projects.
In her previous role at Unigram she worked on the development team for the Apple Original feature Tetris (dir. John Baird), as Associate Producer on a BBC feature documentary about Noel Coward, and on a co-development with Mammoth Screen.
Before that Nancy worked in development at Monumental Pictures; in the Film, TV and Theatre department at United Agents; and as a researcher and reader for multiple London indies including Sister Pictures, Drama Republic and Eleven Film.Nancy is committed to new writing and is a mentor for Channel 4 drama's 4Screenwriting Competition.
Her original and postgrad degrees were in English Lit from Cambridge.

Annabel
MacleodAnnabel Macleod
Development Executive
Annabel has been working in the Film and TV Industry in Scotland for over 10 years and has worked across a number of genres and formats with experience in production, locations, and script departments. Credits include MACBETH (dir. Justin Kurzel), ITV drama THE LOCH, CBBC game show REMOTELY FUNNY, and VIGIL S2. She joined the Freedom Scripted Team in October 2025.
In her previous role at with BBC Drama as part of the scripted commissioning team, she worked across submissions, developments, and productions including series 2 of TEN POUND POMS. Before that, Annabel work as Assistant Script Editor on the acclaimed second series of VIGIL and worked in development at Two Rivers Media.
Annabel holds a postgrad degree in English Lit. and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen, with a year abroad studying at Rhodes University in Memphis, Tennessee. Having spent her career working in Scotland, Annabel has a passion for championing the industry in Scotland, along with amplifying Scottish talent and voices.

Andrew

Development Script Editor
Andrew joined Freedom as a Development Script Editor in 2025.
He has worked as a Script Editor at BBC Studios on River City, having previously gained a place on BECTU Vision’s script editor traineeship. Prior to that, he worked as a script coordinator.
Andrew also has experience as a story researcher and shooting researcher on some factual shows at STV Studios and BBC Studios. Before which, he worked as a location runner.
He completed an MA in Script Writing from Goldsmiths in 2021 and graduated from Cambridge with a BA in English Literature in 2020. Originally from Perthshire, Andrew has lived in Glasgow for the past few years.

Fiona

CFO
Fiona joined Freedom as a consultant CFO in April 25.
She has extensive experience overseeing programme finance, budgets and cash-flows. Prior to joining us she worked at Vertigo Films and Urban Myth Films overseeing high end TV dramas for Sky, Netflix and Canal +.
As well as her work with us Fiona is also a screenwriter and is a successful alum of the Screen Ireland emerging talent scheme. She is currently developing her own slate of writing projects.
Fiona is looking forward to helping Freedom grow their slate and set up future productions.

Margaret joined the team in November 2024 overseeing day to day finance and admin.She brings over 20 years in financial management over many different industries including construction, hospitality and Health & Well Being, combining commercial discipline with a supportive people focused approach.
As well as her work in finance Margaret is also a registered mental health counsellor and values the resilience, collaboration and well being within creative teams like Freedom
She is looking forward to contributing her skills and experience to support the development of exciting new projects.

Business Affairs
Sally and her team at Rights Angels have been looking after all business affairs for Freedom over the last two years.
Sally qualified as a barrister in her own words 'a long time ago' and has spent much of the last thirty years heading up legal and business affairs departments within the independent production sector, including at Wall To Wall and Darlow Smithson Productions.
Now working exclusively in scripted business affairs, Sally specialises in literary source material options, script development, production financing and production legals.
Other recent/current clients include Tiger Aspect, Douglas Road, BBC Studios, Urban Myth Films, Two Cities Television, and Starling Pictures.
